Day Trip, Workshops, and Team Building Adventures

DAY TRIPDo you dream about enjoying Mother Nature without a crowd for a day? For five hours - noon to 5pm - you can exclusively experience Bear Cave Camp. That's right - we won't rent to additional campers when you reserve a Day Trip. Better yet...you can bring Fido!

TEAM BUILDING ADVENTURESFor non-profits and businesses, we have developed four team building adventures. Each adventure begins at noon. (Yes, we will work with your organization to create a custom adventure.)

Scavenger Hunt (photography) - 4 hours

$25 each, minimum 4 members and maximum 24 team members

Build-a-fort Challenge - 4 hours

$25 each, minimum 4 members and maximum 24 team members

Mushroom Forage Workshop - 2 hours

$25 each, minimum 4 members and maximum 8 team members

Mushroom Forage Workshop

Do you love foraging or are you excited at the thought of giving foraging a try?
I love - really, really love - foraging, and this means that I am excited at the thought of having the opportunity to lead you on a Bear Cave Camp forage! I have been foraging wild mushrooms, plants, and flowers for more than five years and love foraging more every year because my list of foraged foods from the wild continues to expand (mushrooms foraged through 2025 are listed in the above art piece). And my recipes that I'd enjoy sharing - yummy.

Mushroom Forage Workshop Details

I will lead you on an estimated 1-2 hour hike at Bear Cave Camp while foraging for mushrooms (walking sticks are supplied)
If edibles are found, sustainable harvesting is permitted (harvesting baskets and bags are supplied)
Bathhouse is available if needed
Internet (localized) is available if needed
At the conclusion of our forage, we gather in the Craft Workshop (that's my garage) where we share / compare harvests, view reference books, share recipes, etc.

If you are accustomed to your dog joining you on hikes, your pup is welcomed. My pup Wynn (German Weimaraner) loves joining me on forages so your pup and mine may make a new friend. If you or your dog are not pet friendly, my pup will remain indoors during our Mushroom Forage.
What I'll need to know - do you want an easy hike or are you up for a challenging hike - location, location, location.
My experience is that the likelihood of a mushroom harvest at Bear Cave Camp is greatest during the summer and fall months. Sometimes while foraging and not finding edible mushrooms to harvest, we do harvest edible wild plants and flowers.

Craft Workshop Details

If up for the added adventure, I will lead you on an estimated half hour casual stroll at Bear Cave Camp while searching for nature's materials that you can use for your craft (walking sticks and gathering baskets/bags are supplied). This hike is on level ground along the craft workshop's building (my garage).
Return to the craft's workshop then use your collected materials plus choose from oodles of our materials on hand for one of the following craft workshops.
- Thinset tile
- Bird feeders
- Rock painting
- Suncatcher
- Other crafting available
